GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

In accordance with its rules, the Emil Aaltonen Memorial Fund awards grants to people studying in the footwear industry.

Grants can be applied for to cover the costs of further studies in the footwear field, whether the studies take place in Finland or abroad. Grants can also be applied for to cover the housing and travel costs of work placements within the shoe industry. Applications must include an employer’s certificate confirming the placement.

Scholarships are awarded based on notification from the school, to those who have completed a shoemaker journeyman, footwear journeyman, shoemaker master, or footwear master qualification, or for strong academic performance (more than half of grades at the highest level).

Grants are awarded based on applications. The foundation’s board reviews each application individually at a separate grant meeting. Decisions are based on assessing the applications and how well the grant requested serves the foundation’s purpose. Decision-making takes equality and fair treatment into account. Grants are awarded at the board’s discretion.

The board of the Emil Aaltonen Memorial Fund decides on the grants awarded.
